So GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE AND JYS JYS XD. Secondly, dont be too stressed kayys dont tear ur hair out during the exam cos u forget facts or sth. And don worry too much or else will get wrinkles and ur whole hair will turn white for thinking too much.So just chill and take it with a light heart but den again don take it too lightly in the end cry during exam. (: ERMHS ERMHS IF U'RE TOO STRESSED CAN GO ERMHS PUNCH UR PILLOW OR STH HEHEHS. Oh and dont burn too much midnight oil later get panda eyes den not handsome/pretty lerhs xD.

13 year old secondary student died at 3 a.m. on 4th september in LAN gaming centre

If you had read the papers today, you might come across this article. Zhang Ze Kai, who ran away from home, went to a LAN gaming centre and was provoked by two young adults, who accused him of stealing their money. They had an argument and the 13 year old was punched. After that, he fainted and eventually he died. This is the third time he had ran away from his house.
On the day of our band chalet, two police went to my house and inspected the unit. According to the two police, the missing pupil had last called us on July and we might have a possibility of being responsible for this case. Back then, he had been away for 2 weeks and no one knows where he was. Ze Kai (translated by pronunciation) was my primary school friend's classmate in St. Patrick's Secondary School. He meets my sister on the bus quite often and there was a period of time when he kept calling to our place everyday to talk to my sister. On her birthday, he even gave her a birthday present. Although I have not yet to meet him, or I could never meet him, I knew him in some way and through his action, I really could see how much he liked my friend and my sister.
Today, right after my maths revision, I switched on the radio (via handphone ) to listen to the radio and when I heard about a sec one student found dead, the thought of him being the victim came across my mind, and it was correct-it is him. Another part of the news that shocked me was that the gaming centre is in geylang and is really really close to our school.
It is so easy for us to be caught in such conflicts. these people who would beat innocent students to death are everywhere. Do not think, fellow school mates, that such thing will not happen ( I met one last month and thank goodness I am still safe ). So people, do go home as soon as you can and do not spend too much time in places like lan gaming centres and other unsafe places. Let this be a warning, keep yourselves away from danger as much as you can for your own sake, and for your family members as well.

Hi!

Looking forward to the class outing... but I'm wondering if I could park my bicycle outside Kallang Leisure Park. That way travelling to the Kallang Leisure Park to school and then back home would be so much easier.

All right, for once I'm going to break my self-imposed rule of prohibiting 2 same consecutive difficulty levels (you would've noticed this if you had a sharp eye).


Prove that the following statements are true:

1) 1/2 X 8 = 3
2) 1/2 X 9 = 4


By the way, if we can get to set our own Maths test paper, I would like to set the bonus question :) I cannot put the questions up on the blog, however, because online calculators are far better than the calculators we currently have. Hence, it'll spoil the whole method of solving my question.

Well, my competition presentation today wasn't as well as it planned out to be... oh well, just hope we get into the finals and better luck next year!

Now for Puzzle 23!

ILLOGICAL LOGIC

Difficulty: Hard

Since Joyce likes creating equations that are illogical, I shall create one illogical puzzle as well!


A recent survey by a peanut butter company yielded the following results:

• The people surveyed prefered to spread jam on bread than to spread anything else.


• But the same group of people would rather have peanut butter spread on bread than to just have plain bread.

By using logic and only the information from the above 2 points, prove that the survey is actually showing that the people surveyed prefer peanut butter to jam.


Now for the answer to Puzzle 22... drag your mouse over the empty space below to reveal the answer!

Both Classmate A and B (A.K.A Sherlyn and Chan Ming) have 1/6 chance of getting the dolphin soft toy.

Obviously, Sherlyn has to pick at random 1 out of 6 soft toys, hence she will have 1/6 chance of getting the dolphin soft toy. That means that she has 5/6 chance of not getting the soft toy.

Now, Chan Ming can only get the dolphin soft toy if Sherlyn didn't pick it during her turn. If Sherlyn didn't pick the dolphin soft toy, Chan Ming has 1/5 chance of getting the soft toy. However, Chan Ming having 1/5 chance of getting the dolphin soft toy only happens if Sherlyn didn't pick it during her turn, and the chance of that happening is 5/6.

Hence, Chan Ming has 1/5 X 5/6 = 1/6 chance of getting the dolphin soft toy!

It might be a little hard to digest, so perhaps you should draw a diagram to help you understand it better. :)

LUCK AND PROBABILITY (PART 3)

Difficulty: Medium

Due to the latest class frenzy over soft toys, I have decided to make this puzzle about them.


As you know, there are a number of soft toys on the shelf at the back of the classroom. There are 6 soft toys there.

Classmate A, let's call her Sherlyn for simplicity, wants the dolphin soft toy. Classmate B, let's call her Chan Ming again for simplicity, also wants the dolphin soft toy. Though, they will do fine with just any soft toy.

Sherlyn and Chan Ming then decide on a way to see who picks what soft toy.

They both close their eyes. The arrangement of the soft toys are mixed around. Then, with their eyes still closed, Sherlyn will first pick a soft toy at random, followed by Chan Ming.

Who has a greater chance of getting the dolphin soft toy, Sherlyn who went first, or Chan Ming who went last?


Yes, it looks quite hard to comprehend, but really the only parts you need to know is the 1st and last paragraph. The rest is just story.

Yes, you should switch doors. Your chances of getting the wrong door halves if you decide to switch doors.

This is known as the Monty Hall Problem.

Initially, when you chose the 3 doors at random, there is 2/3 chance you picked the wrong door (since 2 of the doors are wrong). Hence, you if you switch, you can switch that wrong door for the correct one. Your chance of getting the correct door is 2/3, and the wrong one 1/3, hence the odds that you will end up with the wrong door halves!

Today was our Science and Maths CT :/ sci was still ok but maths... KILLER!!! argh... haish... quite a few of us weren't able to finish(including me)... but well, wats over is over... hope dat tmr's paper will be for de better ><

During assembly, our class has fortunately(or isit unfortunately?) won THIRD in de humanities quiz! congrats to JIAXUAN and BRYAN :DDD you guys did gre8! hahas :D jiayous for more upcoming inter-class stuff :)

We also ALMOST got punished and had to stay back for 10mins but well, all misunderstandings have been cleared :D proud of ourselves for owning up :DDD Hahas xD We're not KEJUJU for nothing you know? hmmm... since si kai told me dat hes not coming up with a quote of de day today, this shall be our quote of de day:
