Hi!

Sorry for this month-late blog post...

This was partly due to the reason I got carried away by Minecraft...

and the rest is because I've just about to run dry of good puzzles *shocks* *horror*

So the fate of this bi-weekly puzzle posts remain unclear... but for now its secure... for now.

Alright enough of those horror stories (i.e. reality)... time for puzzle 26!

OPERATIONAL PROBLEMS

Prove that 98 X 60 is equal to 774.

That was oddly short... but it maybe rather easy for some of you.

Alright, time for the next puzzle... To be kind to your tortured minds after all that long days of studying I shall make this puzzle easy :)

ALARM CLOCKS

Difficulty: Easy


After Shawn's previous clock spoiled (one of its minute "lights" wasn't functioning), the one that Uncle Bob bought for $10 000, Aunt Polly bought him a 24-hour alarm clock.

Unfortunately, it has the habit of sounding its alarm whenever the hour value is equal to the minute value (i.e. It rings at 1:01, 2:02, 3:03, 4:04 etc.).

What is the shortest duration between two alarms?

1) As Po Chien clearly demonstrated, when you cut 8 into half vertically, you get a 3!

2) Now for the more tricky one... 9 in Roman numerals is IX. So when you cut this into half horizontally, you get IV, which is 4 in Roman numerals! :P

i totally didn't feel like screaming cause that would have no effect on my results and my happiness. anyway, we made it (:

haha. jiayou for interclass tomorrow, although our confidence level is currently 4 out of 10. WOW. hahas. don't be disheartened, miracles happen~ so let's hope the referee looks out for them stepping and camping with the ball. haha.

hello (:

decided to take time off science. actually, for you guys to be in 1K, you guys must be AMAZING. kay whatever. just some study tips for science.

science is like... ENDLESS memorising. hahas. there's a girl from another class who mugged the phrasing for formation of volcanoes, forgot the words "crustal movement" and ended up losing 15 marks. SEE WHAT I MEAN. memorising is useless. if you listen in class, understand what teacher said, no writing of notes, no exam mugging. ENDLESS RELAXATION. it's like, WHO MUGS IN KINDERGARTEN TO LEARN THE ALPHABET SONG? cause seriously, understanding the song makes it so easy. yeah. understand how cells work. understand how radiation works. picturing it out. you seriously can't memorise every single question in the world. no use learning them again. its like sherlyn (p.s.) asking "how to study for maths to answer the bonus questions?" thing is, YOU CAN'T. it's all about understanding how things work, how things go about. you see, that's all.

psychologically, watching television for 2 hours the day before a test helps, because it relaxes your mind. if you think last-minute cramming works, you'll end up forgetting everything. relax, tell yourself you've done your best. oh, staring around at the classroom helps, cause it refreshes past memories of us learning, for example when mr seow opens his laptop with 2 fingers.everything just comes back. yay.

so yup. if you don't want to read everything up there, just read this. START RELAXING.

Okay ahem ahem first off, EOYS ARE HERE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. If u havent started mugging yet, GO MUG NOW. 7 MORE DAYS TO EOY and counting. Dont freak out, thats the sad truth. So GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE AND JYS JYS XD. Secondly, dont be too stressed kayys dont tear ur hair out during the exam cos u forget facts or sth. And don worry too much or else will get wrinkles and ur whole hair will turn white for thinking too much.So just chill and take it with a light heart but den again don take it too lightly in the end cry during exam. (: ERMHS ERMHS IF U'RE TOO STRESSED CAN GO ERMHS PUNCH UR PILLOW OR STH HEHEHS. Oh and dont burn too much midnight oil later get panda eyes den not handsome/pretty lerhs xD.
