Puzzle 8

Hi!

Sorry, I've let this puzzle slip my mind. Tests and homework recently... Anyway, have a good Good Friday! Sounds weird... Today I only have time for a quick puzzle, so it should be easy too. Here's the puzzle:

NEIGHBOURS

Difficulty: Easy

In a 2-storey flat lives 6 neighbours: Mr. Green, Mr. Blue, Mr. Yellow, Mr. Grey, Mr. Red and Mr. Brown (:P). Their flat's plan is drawn below.

The construction workers accidentally mixed up all the apartment numbers when they were building the apartments which is why the number is not in numerical order.

Here are some clues as to where the occupants live:

  • Mr. Grey does not live in the middle apartments and has a lower apartment no. than Mr. Blue.

  • Mr. Green lives directly above Mr. Yellow, but does not live next to Mr. Blue.

  • Mr. Red's apartment no. is 4 more than Mr. Grey's.

Where does Mr. Brown live if, out of 2 possible apartment no.s, his one is the less of them? Sherlyn might want to find out...

Here's the answer to last week's Puzzle 7:

1. They are (according to their numbers) 28, 32, 52, 78, 44 and 39 years old respectively. Read below for a method to find out their ages:

No. 4 is obviously lying since his age is over 40 and a multiple of 13.
So No. 2 will be lying too since he says that No. 4 is 68 (a truthful age) when No. 4 is lying. Since he says he is not 32, and he's lying, that means he is 32.
No.5 is telling the truth since he correctly pointed out that No. 2 was lying. So No. 1 is 28.
No.1 is telling the truth since he's 28 (less than 40, multiple of 7). Now we now that No. 6 is 39 years old (28 + 11), and that No. 4 is 78 (the only multiple of 13 from 70-80, liar remember?).
No. 6 is lying, so No.3 is lying too. No. 5 is younger than him by 8 years.

Now we need to find the ages of No. 3 and 5.
The total age of them is 96 (273 - 32 - 28 - 39 - 78).
We also know the difference between their ages. Using simple maths, we find that:
No. 3 is 52 and No. 5 is 44.

There's the method!

2. The code is 48.

1 must be correct since all multiples of 32 above 100 are not factors of 192 (violation of 2nd clue).
2 must be correct since all multiples of 32 below 100 are all factors of 192!
3 must be correct or else 1 will be wrong too.

That leaves us with 4. So it must be wrong. After finding out all its factors, there are 4 possible numbers that fit clues 1, 2 and 3: 12, 24, 48 and 96.
Remember, when the digits of the code are added up together they make 12, ao the code is 12!

...You finally figured out the code! You input the code into the bomb. It immediately shuts off. Wait a minute... if the door was locked why was there a need to wire it to the door? You look at the bomb more closely and realise... it's not even a bomb! It's an automatic locking device! The countdown shows how long more you had to wait before the door opens! Now that you input the "emergency off" code, well, there's no way of turning it back on again. Well, it looks like you're trapped in there for eternity, at least, until Monday comes.

:)

Ooops... It seems the "he" in the second clue is a little confusing. Please note that it refers to Mr. Green. I have removed it to prevent any further confusion.
