Puzzle 4
Hi! Before looking at the puzzle, please read the following disclaimer:
Only Gwen's clock shows the correct time. Since being set Uncle Bob's clock has lost 1 hour and 40 minutes Aunt Polly realises she is getting old, so she decides to "double" her life by making her clock run at twice its normal speed (I.e. If 2 minutes have passed her clock shows that only 4 minutes have passed). Shawn's clock stopped working ever since he accidentally kicked it over with a soccer ball. Sherilyn's clock gains 5 minutes every 80 minutes, which is why she wakes up so early. Grandpa Joe wants to relive his childhood years, so he makes his clock run backwards (I.e. If it is set to 5 o'clock, 3 hours later it will show 2 o'clock).
So what should be the correct time?
Any similarities to actual people is NOT purely coincidental. The following is intended as a joke. Please do not make fun of the inferred actual people and take the joke seriously.
Now for the puzzle!
CROOKED CLOCKS (PART 1)
Difficulty: Medium
In the Northern shores of Scotland there lived the rather influential Norring family. They had a big mansion, but one miserable butler called Brian had to do all their work for them. One such chore he had to do was this:
Every weekend morning, he would gather all the clocks in the mansion and put them side by side. He then waits for the nearby church bell to chime the hour before setting all the clocks with the correct time. (E.g. If it was 9.40, Brian would set all the clocks as 9.40) At first they all show the right time, but after a while they all start to look strange. The following shows the different times shown by the clocks.
8:00, 11:40, 1:40, 6:40, 2:40 and 1:20.
Each clock belongs to one member of the Norring family, and the clocks each have their own pecularity...
So what should be the correct time?
Now for the answers to Puzzle 3:
1. It is C! It may not look like it, because the rectangle causes the line to look crooked.
2. Tammy. Look at the question more closely. Actually this is a rather old riddle so most of you probably know this one.
3. They are the same length. The 4 black lines cause A to look longer as it spans across all 4 of them instead of B, which spans across only 2.
4. 0. Onions don't grow on trees! Anyway, you probably can't tell they are onions in the picture.
